First Nations Rates and Expenditure Laws Timing Regulations

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, pursuant to section 10 and paragraph 36(1)(a) of the First Nations Fiscal and Statistical Management Acta, hereby makes the annexed First Nations Rates and Expenditure Laws Timing Regulations.

ANNUAL LAWS

Timing of laws

1. The council of a first nation that makes a property taxation law shall make the laws referred to in section 10 of the First Nations Fiscal and Statistical Management Act1 on the fourteenth day after the day established for the setting of the tax rates applicable to lands that are adjacent to the reserve and subject to provincial jurisdiction.

Greater certainty

2. Nothing in section 1 precludes the making or amending of laws referred to in section 10 of the First Nations Fiscal and Statistical Management Act at any other time.

3. These Regulations come into force on the day on which they are registered
