First Nations Tax Administrations Association (FNTAA)

The FNTAA promotes and supports programs, policies and procedures which will aid First Nation to develop and administer effective and efficient taxation and related revenue generating programs. The FNTC and FNTAA are committed to ongoing dialogue on ways to support best practices in the exercise of First Nations property tax jurisdiction, the FSMA objectives and the purposes of the FNTAA.

Canadian Energy Pipeline Association (CEPA)

CEPA is dedicated to establishing the pipeline industry as leaders in operation and environmental stewardship. FNTC and CEPA have formed a partnership to foster and encourage and effective working relationship on real property taxation issues, improved communications, and the creation of a better understanding of the issues facing the pipeline industry and First Nation tax authorities.

Native Law Centre of Canada at the University of Saskatchewan (NLC)

NLC assists in the development of the law and legal system in Canada to preserve and sustain Aboriginal and Treaty rights. FNTC and NLC have formed a partnership to publish the First Nations Gazette which published laws and by-laws enacted under s83 of the Indian Act and the FSMA.

National Centre for First Nations Governance (NCFNG)

NCFNG develops programs and services to support First Nations in their efforts to implement their inherent rights of self-governments and assists First Nations to develop and exercise their jurisdictional authorities to create good government. FNTC and NCFNG have formed a partnership to have ongoing dialogue in exploring ways the institutions may support each other in fulfilling the purposes of the FSMA and the NCFNG.

Tulo Centre of Indigenous Economics (Tulo)

Tulo was created to provide training and research that supports investment facilitation on First Nation and indigenous lands to First Nations. FNTC and Tulo formed a partnership to provide certified training to tax administrators and work together to develop new curriculum and research in areas of tax administration, public finance and economics.

Thompson Rivers University (TRU)

TRU is a University located in Kamloops, BC that recognizes the value of building capacity to administer First nation tax systems as well as increasing the understanding of First Nation fiscal, economic and public policy issues. FNTC and TRU have formed a partnership to work together with the Tulo Centre of Indigenous Economics to deliver and deliver accredited courses and programs in First nation tax administration, First Nation economics and First Nation public finance.

Consensus Building Institute and the M.I.T. Harvard Public Disputes Program (CBI and MIT-PDP)

CBI works to promote the fair, efficient, wise and stable resolution of disputes through mediation, training and evaluation. MIT-PDP works to replace “win-lose” outcomes with “all-gain” solutions to the highly controversial and complex problems of public policy making. FNTC, CBI and MIT-PDP have formed a partnership and are committed to ongoing dialogue on ways to support one another’s missions, goals and programs.

National Energy Board (NEB)

NEB promotes safety, security, environmental protection and efficient energy infrastructure. In its role as an energy regulator, the NEB conducts public hearings in accordance with the rules of natural justice. FNTC and NEB have formed a partnership to share information and experiences pertaining to the conduct of public hearings and to create a better understanding of the issues pertaining to the energy industry and First Nations taxation.

ILD is interested in supporting the development of indigenous property rights systems that are compatible with efficient markets. FNTC and ILD have formed a partnership to support each other to further their shared values and objectives relating to indigenous property rights.

Treaty Relations Commission of Manitoba (TRCM)

TRCM is a neutral body that works to strengthen, rebuild and enhance the Treaty relationship and mutual respect as envisaged by the Treaty parties. FNTC and TRCM have formed a partnership to support each other to further their shared values and objectives relating to Treaties to First Nations jurisdiction.

Land Title and Survey Authority of British Columbia (LTSA)

LTSA is an independent corporation established by provincial statute for the purposes of managing, operating and maintaining the land title and survey systems. FNTC and LTSA have formed a partnership to work together to promote a better understanding of land title and survey systems.

British Columbia Assessment Authority (BCAA)

BCAA is a provincial Crown corporation that produces independent, uniform and efficient property assessments on an annual basis for all property owners, including over 50 First Nations in British Columbia. FNTC and BCAA formed a partnership to having ongoing dialogue in exploring opportunities that will foster, enhance, or otherwise facilitate First Nations' property assessment taxation systems

First Nations Alliance 4 Land Management (FNA4LM)

FNA4LM provides a communication link between First Nations land managers, training and expertise in the area of land management and supports a system that will assist First Nations interested in land management function. FNTC and FN4LM are committed to working together to sharing information regarding best practices that can be applied to the delivery of education programs and the transfer of knowledge.

Natural Resources Canada - Surveyor General Branch (SGB)

SGB is responsible, subject to the direction of the Minister of Natural Resources, to manage all surveys on Canada lands, and to maintain all the original plans, journals, field notes and other papers connected with those surveys. FNTC and SGB formed a partnership to further the design of the federal Torrens Registry and develop the survey components required for the First Nations Property Ownership Act.

Canadian Property Tax Association, Inc (CPTA)

CPTA is a national organization providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and information relating to both commercial and industrial property tax issues arising across Canada. FNTC and CPTA have agreed to continue to meet from time to time, with a view to maintaining an open dialogue concerning First Nations property taxation, and property taxation in general.
